Weather permitting, North Shore Indivisible will hold a candlelight vigil in front of the Salem Common Bandstand as its final event for Good Trouble Lives On, a national day of action to respond to the attacks posed on our civil and human rights by the Trump administration. We will join activists around the country in taking to the streets to remind the Trump Administration and MAGA politicians that in America, the the power lies with the people.
During our candlelight vigil, we will listen to excerpts from John Lewis’ speeches throughout his career as a civil rights leader and politician. We will also observe 80 seconds of silence to honor Lewis’s the 80 years of his life. The vigil will last about 25 minutes; LED candles will be provided to participants.

About Good Trouble Lives On
Coined by Congressman John Lewis, "Good Trouble" is the act of coming together to take peaceful, nonviolent action to challenge injustice and create meaningful change. Good Trouble is any action where communities come together, take a stand against wrongdoings, and speak truth to power.
The civil rights leaders of the past have shown us the power of collective action. That’s why on this fifth anniversary of Congressman John Lewis’s passing, North Shore Indivisible invites you to join us to Make Good Trouble Together. This day of action is moral reckoning and a continuation of the movement Congressman Lewis helped lead.
Please note: North Shore Indivisible will hold a protest and public art action on July 17th at 4 PM at the Swampscott Memorial as part of its Good Trouble Lives On programming. For details, please see this event listing.
A core principle behind our Good Trouble Lives On actions is a commitment to nonviolence in all we do. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

Participants will also hand out to passersby postcards with info about Lewis’s life and legacy as well as actions they can take to protect voting rights..
For this peaceful protest, we recommend bringing signs with one or more of these slogans:
March in peace, act in power
Good trouble lives on
We need good trouble now
Stop the SAVE Act
Power lies with the people
Unity is our victory
Voting is a right, not a privilege
We will not be silent
Get up, stand up, stand up for your rights
The government works for us
Our vote, our voice - our power, our choice
The national organizers of Good Trouble Lives On have also created additional graphics that you can incorporate into your signs.

Stand Up For Democracy
From Marblehead Alliance for Democracy:
On Flag Day Saturday June 14th, stand with us on the sidewalk at the corner of Maple Street and Lafayette Street (Route 114) in Marblehead from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., for “No Kings- No Time to Celebrate” —a nonpartisan, peaceful stand out to stand up in defense of American democracy.
This is no time to celebrate. America is in a Constitutional crisis.
The colors of the American flag have been described as “Red for courage and readiness to sacrifice; white for pure intentions and high ideals; and blue for vigilance and justice.” Our Veterans have fought and died to defend our flag and our values and we should not betray their sacrifice. On this Flag Day in 2025, we call on those same qualities of American spirit- courage and sacrifice, vigilance and justice- as we defend the pillars of democracy. We refuse to celebrate when America is in a Constitutional crisis.
Come to this peaceful demonstration. Bring your signs, your friends, your determination—and your belief that the United States was never meant to have kings. Join us!
For more info, see Mobilize.

Musk Must Fail: Elon's Bankruptcy Day
From Tesla Takedown Organizers:
“Join us for a special edition of Tesla Takedown, as we mark the anniversaries of two unfortunate historical events - Donald Trump and Elon Musk's birthdays. Happy Bankruptcy Day Elon!
Elon Musk, DOGE, and the Trump administration continue to wreck havoc on our country. From fired vaccine experts to Marines deployed in LA, Elon's money and Trump's abuses have left a trail of destruction.
On June 28 (Elon Musk’s birthday, two week after Trump's) we’re throwing our biggest day of action yet. We'll make it an unforgettable show of our collective strength and a recommitment to the long fight still ahead.
And our birthday gift to the Broligarchs in Chief? A global party with one powerful message: Musk Must Fall.
This is going to be one huge party! Join us June 28 for a massive, global celebration of grassroots power - and send Elon, Trump, and their buddies a clear message that we’re not going anywhere.
Boston Tesla Takedown is held every Saturday 12-2pm, in front of the Tesla dealership at the Prudential Center, 888 Boylston St.
Tesla Takedown is a peaceful protest movement. We oppose violence, vandalism and destruction of property. This protest is a lawful exercise of our First Amendment right to peaceful assembly.”
